Uttarakhand Police Investigate Alleged Identity Fraud, Forced Conversion and Financial Fraud
Police in Uttarakhand are investigating a case involving allegations of identity concealment, forced religious conversion, financial exploitation, and domestic violence after a woman lodged a complaint in Rudraprayag district.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that a man introduced himself using a Hindu identity before the two were married in a Kali temple in Rudraprayag. She later claimed to have discovered that he had allegedly concealed his religious identity.
The complainant further alleged that she was subsequently pressured to convert to Islam against her wishes. She also claimed that a religious cleric was called during the process and that she faced coercion.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that she was persuaded to sell her ancestral property, after which approximately ₹35 lakh from the sale was taken by the accused. She further alleged that she and her family were subjected to physical assault and intimidation.
The complaint also states that the woman's mother was allegedly assaulted and that threats were made against the family.
Police have registered the case and begun an investigation. Officials say they are examining all allegations, collecting evidence, and recording witness statements. Authorities have not yet announced the outcome of the investigation.
As the matter is under investigation, the allegations have not been proven in court. Further legal proceedings will determine the facts of the case.
