Amit Mann was only 22 when she was killed during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack on southern Israel. A Magen David Adom paramedic living at Kibbutz Be’eri, Mann chose to remain at the community clinic as the attack unfolded, treating wounded residents while the area was under assault.
According to accounts from her family and colleagues, Mann could have remained in a protected area, but instead went to the clinic after learning that people were injured. For hours, she treated patients and communicated with emergency services while militants were still inside the kibbutz.
She Stayed With the Injured
The clinic at Be’eri quickly became an emergency treatment centre as wounded residents were brought in.
Mann worked alongside other medical personnel to provide whatever assistance was possible. Reports say she remained there for several hours despite the continuing gunfire and repeatedly sought help from emergency services.
In messages to her family, Mann described the situation and expressed concern about the attackers approaching the clinic. Her final communications reflected the danger she was facing.
Eventually, attackers breached the clinic. Mann was killed along with Dr Daniel Levi and members of the kibbutz security team who had been defending the building. Two people inside survived the attack.
A Life Dedicated to Saving Others
Mann worked as a paramedic and instructor and had devoted herself to emergency medical care. Colleagues and relatives have remembered her for her commitment to helping injured people, even when her own life was in immediate danger.
Her story has since become one of the accounts associated with the medical workers who continued treating victims during the October 7 attack.
Claims About the Suspected Attacker
Reports circulating about the case identify Mahmoud Mohammed Ahmed Fatair as one of the Hamas attackers allegedly involved in the assault. Claims that he was subsequently killed by the Israel Defense Forces should be attributed to the relevant Israeli authorities unless independently confirmed.
The wider circumstances surrounding individual attackers involved in the October 7 assault have been the subject of ongoing investigations and military operations.
Remembering Amit Mann
The Be’eri clinic later became a symbol of the violence that occurred during the attack. In March 2025, the damaged clinic building was demolished during a ceremony attended by relatives of those killed there.
For Mann's family and colleagues, however, the location remains closely connected to her final hours: a young paramedic who chose to stay with wounded people when the community was under attack.
Her story continues to be remembered as one of courage, sacrifice and dedication to saving lives under extraordinary circumstances.
