A 23-year-old man from Delhi has shared an unforgettable experience from his very first date after meeting a woman through a dating app. While the evening ended with a bill of more than ₹20,000, he says the biggest disappointment was not the money—it was how the date unfolded.
According to the young man, he had connected with the woman online, and after chatting for some time, the two decided to meet in person. He expected a simple and relaxed outing, imagining they would visit a quiet café where they could talk, enjoy some light music, and get to know each other better.
However, things took an unexpected turn from the very beginning.
The woman picked him up from a nearby metro station and suggested they visit a pub instead of a café. Trusting her choice, he agreed and accompanied her.
Once inside the pub, she reportedly placed several expensive orders, including multiple bottles of champagne worth around ₹13,000, two hookahs costing nearly ₹6,000, and additional food items. As the evening progressed, the total bill reached approximately ₹20,500.
When the bill arrived, the woman reportedly went to the washroom. The man said she neither offered to share the payment nor asked about the amount. He ended up paying the entire bill himself.
For the 23-year-old, the evening was never meant to be about luxury or expensive dining. He had hoped for meaningful conversations, a peaceful atmosphere, a walk together, and simple food—an experience that would help both of them know each other better.
Despite the unexpected expense, the young man says he does not hold any anger or hatred toward the woman. Instead, he feels disappointed that his first-ever date did not turn out the way he had imagined.
Reflecting on the incident, he said that while money can always be earned again, the memories of a first date stay with a person for a long time. The experience, though costly, has become a lesson that he will remember in future relationships.
