A video showing an Israeli woman tourist being subjected to inappropriate and obscene remarks in Rajasthan has gone viral on social media, prompting police action in Ajmer district.
According to multiple reports, the incident took place at the Kishangarh dumping yard in Ajmer district, where the woman was recording a video. The incident itself is reportedly around four years old, but the footage resurfaced and went viral in September 2026, leading the police to take suo motu action.
What Happened in the Viral Video?
The footage reportedly shows a group of young men approaching or speaking to the Israeli tourist and making inappropriate comments toward her. One of the remarks heard in the video was, “Ek shot ka kitna logi?”
The video attracted widespread attention after it was shared again on social media. Following the circulation of the footage, Ajmer Police began an investigation even though the incident was not newly reported.
Four Men Arrested
Police formed a special team to identify the people visible in the video. According to reports, investigators used technical evidence and intelligence inputs to trace the suspects.
The arrested men have been identified in police and media reports as Mohammad Farhan, Mohammad Asim, Farhan and Akhtar Ali. Some reports use slightly different spellings/transliterations for the names.
Police have initiated legal proceedings and are questioning the accused in connection with the incident. Reports state that action was taken under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The Woman Later Thanked Rajasthan Police
Following the arrests, the Israeli tourist reportedly thanked Rajasthan and Ajmer Police for taking action after the old video resurfaced.
NDTV reported that the tourist said she still loves India and that the incident did not represent Indian society as a whole. The report also said she had originally posted the video as a travel memory and was unaware at the time that the people in the footage were making inappropriate comments about her.
Claims About Religion and “Terrorists”
Social-media posts have described the four arrested men as “terrorists” and have linked the incident to broader claims about Muslims, rape culture and political protests. Those descriptions are not established by the police reporting reviewed for this article.
The available reports describe the case as one involving alleged obscene or objectionable comments toward a foreign tourist. They report arrests and an ongoing investigation, but do not establish that the four men are terrorists or that the incident proves a broader religious or societal claim.
Similarly, references circulating online to unrelated alleged rape cases and protests should not be presented as established facts connected to this incident without separate verification.
A Reminder About Tourist Safety
The incident has renewed discussion about respectful behaviour toward foreign visitors and the importance of maintaining a safe environment at tourist destinations.
Regardless of the identities or backgrounds of those involved, inappropriate sexual comments or harassment of a tourist are matters for the police and courts to investigate. The four arrested men remain accused in the case, and the final legal determination will depend on the investigation and judicial process.
