A disturbing case has been reported from Tukkuguda in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district, where a 21-year-old nurse was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed inside her room.
According to the report cited by ETV Bharat, police have arrested 34-year-old Mohammad Sanaullah Khan, a bike mechanic from Begusarai, Bihar, in connection with the case.
Accused Allegedly Entered Through Window
The young woman was reportedly working as a nurse at Prime Care Hospital in Tukkuguda.
Police allege that Sanaullah had been stalking her. According to the reported account, he approached her room late at night and initially tried to force open the door. When he found it locked, he allegedly climbed through a window that did not have protective grills and entered the room.
The nurse, who was reportedly asleep, woke after hearing a noise. She allegedly saw the accused inside the room and raised an alarm.
Woman Allegedly Attacked and Killed
According to the allegations, Sanaullah allegedly covered her mouth and attempted to sexually assault her. The woman reportedly resisted.
Police allege that the accused then strangled her and sexually assaulted her. She was subsequently found dead.
The exact sequence of events and cause of death will be established through forensic evidence and the ongoing investigation.
Protest Outside Osmania Hospital
The incident triggered anger among the victim's family and supporters.
On Sunday evening, August 30, family members and several BJP leaders reportedly gathered outside the mortuary at Osmania Hospital, where they staged a protest demanding justice for the deceased nurse.
The protesters called for strict action against the accused and demanded that the investigation be conducted thoroughly.
Police Arrest Suspect
The Pahadi Shareef police reportedly arrested 34-year-old Mohammad Sanaullah Khan in connection with the case.
Investigators are expected to examine CCTV footage, forensic evidence, mobile-phone records and other material to reconstruct the events leading to the woman's death.
The allegations against the accused remain subject to the investigation and judicial process. If the evidence establishes the charges, he could face serious criminal penalties under Indian law.
The case has once again raised concerns about stalking, women's safety and the need for effective protection when complaints or warning signs emerge.
