A 14-year-old girl from Maharashtra's Vasai-Virar area has been missing for over two weeks after she allegedly left home with a 22-year-old man identified as Rizwan Sheikh, who works as a barber.
According to the girl's family, she disappeared around 15 days ago, prompting them to file a complaint with the local police. Since then, the family says they have been making repeated appeals to the authorities for urgent action to locate the minor.
The parents have also alleged that the police informed them of the girl's live location but asked them to retrieve her themselves, reportedly stating that they had other responsibilities to attend to. The family claims they were left to search for the missing girl on their own despite the seriousness of the case.
Even after more than 15 days, the girl has not been found, leaving her family increasingly worried about her safety. They are urging law enforcement agencies to intensify the search efforts and ensure the minor is brought home safely at the earliest.
At the time of writing, the police have not publicly responded to the family's allegations regarding the handling of the case. The investigation is reportedly ongoing.
