A woman from Maharashtra's Nagpur has alleged that she was deceived into a relationship as a minor, subjected to abuse for several years, and denied timely justice despite repeatedly approaching the police. The allegations have sparked protests by local Hindu organizations, which are demanding strict legal action against the accused.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that a Muslim man befriended her when she was a minor and later entered into a relationship with her. She claims that she became pregnant during this period and was forced to continue the pregnancy.
The victim has further alleged that the accused changed her name to "Fatima" and forged her date of birth to facilitate official documentation. She also claimed that she was compelled to give birth to the child against her wishes.
According to her allegations, the abuse continued for nearly six years after the birth of the child. She has accused the man of physical and mental harassment and claimed that her repeated complaints to the police did not result in effective action.
The case gained wider attention after members of Hindu organizations reportedly intervened and staged protests, urging authorities to take immediate legal action. During the protest, members allegedly criticized the handling of the case, saying that "a police station should not become a place for settlements but a place where justice is delivered."
