Thirty-year-old Soberan, a resident of Assam, earned his livelihood by selling vegetables in the local market. Living a simple life, he remained unmarried and spent most of his days working hard to support himself.One evening, while returning home after finishing his day's work, Soberan heard the faint cries of a baby coming from bushes beside the roadside. Curious and concerned, he walked towards the sound to investigate.

To his shock, he discovered a tiny baby girl lying helplessly on a pile of garbage. The infant had reportedly been abandoned and left alone with no one around to care for her. Soberan searched the nearby area in the hope of finding her parents or someone who knew about the child, but there was no one in sight.

Unable to leave the helpless infant behind, he gently picked her up and took her home.Rather than treating the child as someone else's responsibility, Soberan made a life-changing decision. He decided that instead of focusing on marriage, he would dedicate his life to raising the little girl as his own daughter.

He named her Jyoti, meaning "light," believing she had brought a new purpose into his life.Despite having limited financial resources, Soberan worked tirelessly every day to provide Jyoti with a safe home, nutritious food, quality education, and all the care a loving parent could offer. From her first days in his home to her school education, he ensured that she never felt the absence of parental love.

Years later, reflecting on his decision, Soberan reportedly said:
