Former Tech Mahindra Employee Alleges Workplace Harassment and Unlawful Termination, Stages Silent Protest in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A former Tech Mahindra employee staged a silent protest outside the company’s Raidurgam office on Thursday, July 23, accusing the IT firm of workplace harassment and wrongful termination after she requested medical leave.

Bhavana, a software engineer who joined Tech Mahindra five months ago, said her health took a turn for the worse shortly after finishing her training. She applied for 13 days of sick leave in June to recover, but claims management pushed her to return early despite knowing her condition. To make matters worse, she says the company slapped her with an insensitive warning letter while she was still unwell.

Things only escalated once she was back at her desk. Bhavana described a toxic environment where managers micro-managed her every move—even tracking her bathroom breaks.

"In all my years as a professional, I've never experienced anything like this," she said.

Her employment was abruptly terminated shortly after, which she maintains is a direct violation of local labor laws. Refusing to let it slide, Bhavana has taken her case to the police, filing an official complaint over workplace harassment and illegal firing.

Tech Mahindra has yet to comment on the allegations, and an official investigation into the matter is expected. Meanwhile, the protest has already kicked off a heated debate across social media regarding employee rights, sick leave policies, and how major tech firms treat workers in crisis.
